The Avanzando Liderazgo Program (ALP) is a premiere, Latine-centered executive development initiative.
It is designed to equip established professionals with the strategic frameworks and high-level networks required to scale their influence and drive systemic change across Minnesota.
This transformative, six-month experience is tailored specifically to the nuances of Latine leadership. Participants engage in a rigorous blend of executive coaching, culturally anchored curriculum, and collaborative action, ensuring they are positioned to thrive in senior roles across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

What is the ALP program?
The Avanzando Liderazgo Program (ALP) is a premiere, six-month leadership development initiative designed for Latine professionals. It equips participants with strategic frameworks through a rigorous blend of 1-on-1 executive coaching, collaborative cohort development, and a culturally anchored curriculum.
Who should apply?
ALP is designed for driven Latine professionals across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors who are ready to scale their strategic influence and forge high-level networks. We welcome applicants from all industries, regardless of immigration status. Participants must be at least 21 years of age, and while the program celebrates our cultural wealth, Spanish proficiency is not required.
When does the ALP 2027 program start and end?
The program begins with a mandatory orientation on Friday, December 11, 2026. The core curriculum officially runs from January 8, 2027, to June 11, 2027, culminating in a graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 12, 2027. Please note that program dates may change, in which case participants will be notified.
What is the time commitment?
Fellows participate in full-day in person workshops on Fridays (once a month), from about 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Typically, few short articles, readings or assignments may be assigned in advance of each session as preparatory readings. Please prepare your availability for the entire allotted session time. In order to receive your graduation certificate, you must complete all of your leadership coaching sessions, assignments, in addition to attending the majority of sessions. Having more than 2 absences will result in an incomplete for this program. While we realize things come up and conflicts can arise unexpectedly, you should plan to participate in all program activities if you are accepted as a Fellow.
Where are sessions held?
In person sessions are held in the Twin Cities. Some of our sessions will be held at the HACER offices (155 Wabasha St S #105, St Paul, MN 55107) in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation and parking. Some sessions will be held virtually, in which fellows will be notified in advance. However, fellows should expect all sessions to be in person. The orientation, last session and graduation require in person attendance.

What is the deadline to apply?
Applications for the 2027 cohort are due by Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
How do I apply?
In order to apply, you must submit an application through our application button found above. You may resubmit an application, in which the selection committee will review your second application. If you were not selected in previous years, you are encouraged to reapply.

Holistic Wellness Integration: An intentional focus on mental health and holistic well-being to sustain long-term leadership, center Latine joy, and prevent burnout. Cross-Sector Alliances: Opportunities to forge high-level, meaningful connections with peers across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Collaborative Action: Hands-on, strategic learning that leverages your cultural wealth to drive collective goals and advance racial and ethnic equity. Dynamic Ecosystem of Support: Lifelong integration into a powerful alumni network of visionary changemakers committed to collective advancement.
What kinds of professions are represented in the program?
We welcome leaders from all industries. Each ALP cohort is intentionally curated to reflect a diverse balance of professionals across the private, nonprofit, and public sectors.
How many applicants are accepted?
Through a rigorous and competitive process, approximately 18 applicants are accepted each year. Our selection committee (made up of program alumni and community members) seeks to admit a cohort representing the private, nonprofit, and public sectors.
How is the ALP program funded?
To ensure accessibility, the ALP program is free for participants. However, we highly encourage you to speak with your employer about what level of support they can provide to support your participation within ALP. The program fee is $5,000 per participant. The program covers an intensive set of skills, collaboration, mental health support, individual career and leadership coach, and culturally specific development. - Mutual Benefits: Investing in our fellows is an investment in the future of our community and organizations. The skills and insights gained through this program will directly benefit participants and their employers, leading to enhanced organizational performance and innovation. - Employer Contributions: We strongly encourage employers to support their employees' participation in this transformative program. Many organizations recognize the value and cover all or a portion of the fee from professional development funds or other resources. - Scholarships and Accessibility: Your generous contributions make it possible for us to offer scholarships, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder deserving individuals from participating. Scholarships are partially funded by the LatinoLEAD network and our esteemed partners. LatinoLEAD will support those who live in Greater MN, including covering a hotel room the night before each session. Again, we want to work closely with you and consider contributing to support this initiative and provide opportunities for professional and leadership development without financial barriers. Is this a certificate or for-credit program?
Participation in the program does not result in a certificate, a degree, or in course credit hours toward a degree.
Do I need to know English or Spanish?
Facilitators, sessions and the corresponding materials, are primarily in English. Fellows are required to have an intermediate level of English in order to participate in class discussions and written assignments.
